Cake & Loaf Bakery adds FTO chocolates & confections to offerings

Since opening in 2010, Cake and Loaf has been dedicated to using local ingredients as an integral part of their approach to “from scratch” baking. With a focus on seasonal, responsible and delicious baked goods, Cake & Loaf quickly grew from a home kitchen to a full-size bakery and neighbourhood favourite. The Hamilton bakery recently expanded upon their wide range of sweet and savoury offerings to include a Fair Trade Organic Chocolate & Confections department, specializing in hand-crafted confections.

This new department works with local and organic ingredients to create hand-crafted candy bars and is one of the only stores in Hamilton working exclusively with fair trade, organic chocolate. Cake & Loaf’s goal is to playfully recreate childhood favourites, combining fresh ingredients with mature twists on nostalgic sweets. Led by chocolatier-confectioner Maria Boyd, some highlights of the Chocolates & Confectionary offerings include new interpretations of the classic Twix bar and Viva Puffs, and creating truffles with the bitters from Beamsville’s renowned Dillon’s Distillery.
